Pictures from hotels and the like bedrooms in hotels or holiday apartments often contain pictures that present a view of the immediate neighbourhood. But often the pictures have been borrowed from unknown contexts or even refer to other, quite distant places. Quite apart from what is shown, however, it may well be the discrepancy between the practically furnished room and the attempt to combat the anonymity of the room with a few pictures on the wall that produces a feeling of melancholy. We photograph the pictures presented in the rooms whereever we are guests the pictures carry the names of the places where they were found and the dates of our stay.
