das älteste Stückding: Meteoritensalon
the oldest piece on earth: salon of the meteorite
das blaue Licht, Medienturm Graz, curated by Vitus Weh
The work consists of the reconstruction of the oldest piece on earth (das älteste Stückding) and a framed oilpainting showing a landscape with the fall of a meteorite both presented on a brownish painted wall. At the floor lies on a platform, painted in the same colour as the walls, the Kartoffeltier (potato beast), consisting of jute fabric and a head covered with potato peel. Next to the platform stands the framed drawing of a chimney leaned against the wall.
The presentation of the work refers to cabinets of curiosities as well as to the clubs for upper class gentlemen like the explorers club found 1905 in London.
